For home inspectors

For home inspectors who want a home’s permit history and equipment ages before the visit.

  1. Look up the address before the visit

Any home we cover, free, with no account.

    Look up a home →
  2. Switch to Inspecting

Set “Show what matters for” to Inspecting. It leads with the permit history: how many equipment permits are on record and since when, the latest ones with their permit numbers, and what isn’t on any permit, worth a look on site.

  3. Note the ages and their sources

Each piece of equipment shows its age and where that came from: a permit, a label photo, a shop’s record or the household’s word. Missing permits are common, so treat “no permit on record” as a question, not an answer.

  4. Print the summary

Press “Print summary” for a printable page of the record to keep with your notes.

  5. Keep the homes you’re inspecting

Sign in, press “Add to My homes” and choose “Just watching” (or “I look after it” for a property you manage). Your list is yours alone; nobody else sees it.

What’s shared, what’s private

Shared
  • The record: permits, equipment, ages and sources, the same for everyone who looks.
Private
  • Your list of homes and how you said you’re connected to each.
  • Your email, which is never shown with anything.
